Courses: F SC 416 INTRODUCTION TO COMBUSTION (3) Principles of laminar and turbulent premixed and non-premixed combustion; chemical reaction kinetics, heat and mass transfer, and fluid mechanics. Prerequisite: M E 023 or M E 030; PHYS 203 or PHYS 204. F SC 422 COMBUSTION ENGINEERING (3) Principles of industrial combustion engineering; structure and stability of industrial flames; heat transfer; examples drawn from industrial applications. Prerequisite: F SC 301 or F SC 401. EGEE 301 THERMODYNAMICS AND FLUID MECHANICS (5) Treatment of fluid mechanics/thermodynamics targeted to needs of students in the Department of EME emphasizing common aspects between the two subjects. Prerequisite: MATH 141, PHYS 212. F SC 504 PROBLEMS IN FUELS ENGINEERING (5) A problem-based, active learning course on the application of the principles of fuels engineering to the efficient and environmentally acceptable use of coal, petroleum, and natural gas. Prerequisites: F SC 421, 422, 431. |
