Executive
Summary
The Department
of Energy and Geo-Environmental Engineering at The
Pennsylvania State University is looking forward to hosting the
first meeting of the Industry Summit on Mining Performance:
How to Improve It, How to Sustain It, How to Reduce Costs at the Wyndham
Pittsburgh Airport Hotel on August 11-12, 2004. The conference
will be a gathering place to discuss performance improvement issues, opportunities,
and challenges, and will include presentations from industry leaders in key
mining sectors - coal, metals, and non-metallic minerals - as well as from
customers, suppliers, and others with a keen interest in mining industry performance.
The conference is scheduled
to have a keynote address from Glen Barton, former Chairman and CEO of Caterpillar,
and will address a variety of performance improvement topics for the industry.
